Dr. John A.Wells, MD, MBA is a respected presence in the Brownsville, Texas medical community who has a background that includes emergency room and correctional medicine, anesthesiology, as well as pain management. In addition to leading Melchizedek Medical, Pllc, Dr. John A. Wells, MD, MBA serves as a director of Brownsville’s fire/EMS medical services and the City Health Authority, where he also spearheads the public health department, as well as design and track its emergency medical management response plans.
Previously, Dr. Wells worked as a medical director responsible for overseeing McLennan County’s correctional institutions’ medical department for six years. Experienced in meeting the needs of a diverse patient population, he helped ensure the health and wellness of all those monitored and treated. McLennan County passed the Texas Jail Commission evaluation every year during this period.
From 2003 to 2011, Dr. Wells served as CEO and medical director with Anesthesia Specialist of Brownsville and was responsible for providing quality medical services, while overseeing the group’s administrative functions. During this time, he also held responsibilities as the head of the American Medical Training Institute and oversaw instructions and educating spanning basic EMT, Paramedics, AED’s and ACLS courses.
